Welcome! Thank you for being one of the early users of Lokmanya: A Living Legacy. Your participation during this beta phase will play a significant role in shaping the future of the project.

🚀 Getting Started

1. 📝 Click on your invitation link

Your invitation link is unique and gives you access to the beta.

Note: Before you can access the onboarding form, you will be asked to sign in using your Gmail account. You can use your existing Gmail username and password—no need to remember yet another password. 😊

2. 📋 Complete the onboarding form

Once you have successfully signed in, you will see the onboarding form. Kindly fill it out.

In the future, the information you provide will help the system deliver more personalized and curated responses. (This feature is not enabled yet.)

3. 🚀 Start exploring

After successfully submitting the form, you will be taken directly to the Ask page.

There you will see:

  • ⌨️ the query text box
  • 📚 the Samagra Tilak volume selection panel
  • 📄 the answer panel

The text box is bilingual. By clicking on अ, you can phonetically type in Marathi as well.

⚡ Enter your question, click Ask, and within moments you will receive a response grounded in Lokmanya Tilak’s writings. Voilà! 🎉

💳 Credits

You are awarded ₹10 worth of free credits. A small amount is deducted for every successful answer generated. If your balance falls below zero, you will not be able to submit further queries.

Don’t worry—you can always contact me to request a credit top-up. However, I reserve the right to accept or decline such requests.

💡 Please remember

Lokmanya: A Living Legacyis an ongoing project. While answering, the system can make mistakes. However, that shouldn’t hold you back from asking as many diverse questions as you can. In fact, I encourage you to do exactly that, because your questions and feedback will provide invaluable insights that will help me improve the system.

🧠 What’s an AI hallucination?

In Artificial Intelligence, a hallucination is a highly confident and persuasive response that is factually incorrect. Large Language Models are generally prone to hallucinations, and systems like this one are specifically designed to minimize them by grounding answers in authentic source material. However, even such systems are not completely hallucination-free.

📚 What should you expect from the current beta?

  1. 🔍 Think of the system as a knowledgeable Lokmanya Tilak scholar who can quickly consult the relevant volumes and passages of Samagra Tilak before answering your questions.
  2. 📖 Use your own knowledge of Tilak to judge whether the responses are accurate, useful, and faithful to his ideas.
  3. 🤔 It may sound counterintuitive, but in its current form the system is often better at answering interpretive questions about Tilak’s ideas than answering very specific trivia. For example, it may explain Tilak’s position on Swaraj quite well, yet hallucinate while answering a question like: “When did Tilak write ‘सरकारचे डोके ठिकाणावर आहे काय?’?”
  4. 📄 Please ignore page numbers: The provenance is not fully implemented yet. The page numbers shown in the answers are internal references to the Samagra Tilak volumes, and do not yet correspond to the actual page numbers in the printed books. This will be fixed in the coming weeks.

🚧 What should you expect in the coming weeks and months?

  1. 🎯 Better and more accurate answers to factual and trivia-based questions.
  2. ⏳ Support for temporal analysis, such as: “How did Lokmanya Tilak’s position on the Muslim question evolve between 1885 and 1920?”
  3. 📑 First-class citation support, including the ability to directly open the original page from the relevant Samagra Tilak volume that was used to generate the answer.
  4. 🧭 Better guidance for newcomers. Today, users need to know what to ask. In the future, the system should help users discover what they don’t yet know by introducing topics, suggesting directions to explore, and gradually taking them deeper into Tilak’s thought.
  5. 🕸️ Rich knowledge and idea exploration. Tilak’s writings are diverse and deeply interconnected. The current system does not yet fully understand those conceptual links. With your questions, I hope to build a system capable of making those connections—for example, relating an idea from Geetarahasyawith a historically or philosophically relevant passage from Tilak’s political writings, and vice versa.
  6. 🔄 Continuous improvements based on your feedback, so that the system becomes progressively more accurate, insightful, and useful for everyone interested in Lokmanya Tilak.

  1. ❓ Ask as many varied questions as possible—from simple to difficult, interpretive to factual.
  2. 🐞 Report incorrect answers, missing context, or anything that feels misleading or incomplete.
  3. 💬 Tell me where the system impressed you just as much as where it failed. Knowing what works is as valuable as knowing what doesn’t.
  4. 💡 Share suggestions for new features or improvements that would make this a better companion for studying Lokmanya Tilak.
  5. ❤️ Above all, enjoy exploring Tilak’s writings in a new way.
